trans-atlantic partnerships

Perhaps the most rewarding project I’ve engaged in as a composition instructor, the Trans-Atlantic partnership, pairs my students at NDSU with translation students from Western European universities to collaborate and negotiate the successful translation of various texts for global and local contexts. American students gain valuable experience preparing texts in English for translation and editing documents translated into English, and their European counterparts receive real texts and real-time feedback on their work. The highlight of the collaboration usually occurs in a multinational, multilingual videoconference in which we all experience the value, and occasional challenges, of such collaborations.

Past collaborators include:

Italian Università degli Studi di Padova, UNIPD (Padua, Italy)
Université Paris Diderot (Paris, France)
Hogeschool Gent (Ghent, Belgium)
Åarhus Universitet (Aarhus, Denmark)
Vaasan yliopisto (Vaasa, Finland)
